My Entrepreneurship Story Week 2

My junior and senior year of high school I was apart of the Entrepreneurship Club. We would meet once a week to discuss anything entrepreneurial. The main goal of the club was to bring in entrepreneurs to share their story. My senior year we were able to bring in Dan Doyle. Dan Doyle is the CEO and founder of DEX imaging. Mr. Doyle shared his experiences and struggles in attempt to grow his business. He explained the advantages that his company had since they had enough capital to stay private and were not forced to go public to the stock market. He stressed the importance of a reliable product and quick response time. I really enjoyed hearing about Mr. Doyle's experience and listening to his advice. I also enjoyed my time as apart of the Entrepreneurship Club in high school.

I enrolled in ENT 3003 because I have always had an interest in entrepreneurship. I can see myself starting a business in the future and doing everything that I can to make it successful. I hope I can gain valuable knowledge that will help me succeed in the future during this course. Mainly I just want to continue to learn and this class offers me the opportunity to do that.

  1. Cameron,

I found your story very interesting! It would have been very beneficial to be in a club such as the one you mentioned, just to be able to learn from several different points of view. I feel that Mr. Doyle was very right in describing his advantages and disadvantages. However, I would be interested to know what his motivation to start the company were. I wonder if there was a problem that he was trying to solve or a need he was attempting to fulfill with his business. Other than that, great story and it seems that you were able to learn a lot!

I also hope to one day start a business, and hope to learn information from this class to help me to be successful! So hopefully it is beneficial for us both! Good luck!

  2. Hello Cameron,

I also enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story! That is so great that such a beneficial club was available to you in your high school. I cannot say the same, so that is awesome for you. I bet you were able to learn a lot listening to all those different speakers. It sounds like Mr. Doyle was one of the most informative or one of your favorites. That is so great that you were able to hear from him directly as to his motivations, struggles, and any advice he had to offer. Those talks are some of the most beneficial to hear and will always stick with you. From here on out, you will be able to draw on your experience with him and it may steer you in the right direction sometime in your own entrepreneurship pursuit.
I enrolled in the course for the same reasons, as well as my entrepreneurship minor. I am excited for everything we will learn from Dr. Pryor, and hopefully I will see something amazing you've created in the future! Enjoy the semester!
