What does it mean to be an Entrepreneur? Being an entrepreneur means having an opportunity to build and shape an idea in a company in a way that you want. It is also doing this with a group of people that you enjoy doing it with to create an entity that ends up bringing value to the customer, the employees, and the ownership of the company.
What do you think I should learn in an entrepreneurship course? In the business school we studied in a way as if our first job was going to be the CEO of general motors or IBM. What we should’ve learned is how to be the CEO of a company that we could create.
What should my expectations be in this course? If I were in your shoes I would hope to learn…
- How to manage and motivate people
- How to strategize business direction
- What are the elements and components of an entrepreneurial endeavor
- What makes a great entrepreneur
- How to deal with failure and adversity
Overall I was impressed, appreciative, and intrigued by his answers. I was slightly surprised when he said he wished that he had learned more about how to be the CEO of a company that one creates rather than the CEO of a large company. I had never thought that this might be an issue when learning about entrepreneurship.
