Celebrating Failure
I did not do as well as I wanted on my first math exam of this semester. After not doing as well on the first exam as I wanted to I decided to change the way that I studied for the next one. I decided to get a tutor and do many more practice problems. I learned how to prepare properly for the exams in that class and I was able to do much better on the next exam.
After the first exam I felt as if I had failed. I let myself down and I knew that I would need to rebound from this feeling of failure. I then devoted much more time and effort to being successful on this next test. I knew that the previous exam was in the past and I had to move on and do as well as I could for the rest of the semester. Failure is absolutely not fun.I hate failure although I use it as a learning experience. I always attempt to bounce back in a much better way from my previous failures. I attempt to own and master whatever I previously failed. Using my willpower I am usually able to overcome failures.

Cameron, it’s great to see that you were able to get help with a tutor and be able to change your study style after not doing as well as hoped on your first math exam. It can be really difficult to reach out to others for help. I know reaching out to others sooner might have helped me a little more in my endeavors. ReplyDeleteHey Cameron, great job on your blog post! I really enjoyed hearing your perspective on how you "celebrate" failure. It's such an awkward thing to talk about, but props to you for owning up to your mistake and seeking out help to make sure it would not happen again. Sometimes we have to rely on others in order to be successful, and that's totally okay. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Cameron,
ReplyDeleteGood job on being proactive the second time around and learning a lesson. I used to be afraid of getting tutors for classes because I had never needed them in the past, but that was nonsense. One on one help is sometimes just whats needed to help you succeed!
You're right, failure is not fun! I hope your success in your math class outweighs the low of the original failure.
